What truly sets our mirrors apart is the exceptional quality of the mirrors and a multi-stage finishing process with roots in decades of traditional, high-end furniture craftsmanship. This meticulous approach elevates our collection beyond the ordinary, ensuring each piece is a work of enduring quality that will enhance any space.
Our metallic finished frames are made from engineered wood, with a layer of hand applied resin-based gesso. After being sanded to a perfectly smooth finish, they are primed with multiple layers of burnish sealer, sanded again until smooth, then a clear coat applied. Our craftspeople paint on gilder’s size and then hand apply the gold or silver leaf, sheet by sheet.
The evidence of this ancient technique can be seen in the fine joins where the sheets of metal leaf meet.
Finally, a tinted antique varnish is applied to complete the frame, creating a soft and liveable finish.
Our modern sprayed paint finished frames are also made from engineered wood with a fine layer of resin-based gesso applied. The production process requires up to three separate rounds of hand-sanding, with more gesso applied between each sanding to insure a perfectly flat, smooth final surface.
The frame is finally hand sprayed with a primer and then five separately applied coats of paint to create a perfectly smooth finished surface.
